C-WEST (Career Workplace Exploration in the Skilled Trades)
Introducing high school students to careers in the trades
C-WEST is a school-to-work partnership based at Rainier Beach High School that introduces high school students to careers in the skilled trades. This semester-long program combines classroom training with paid internships. Internship sponsors include the Port of Seattle, City of Seattle, King County, King County Dept. of Transportation, and the Painters and Allied Trades.
Working Wheels combines affordable cars, money management training, and a low-interest auto loan to put low-income workers in the driver’s seat of their own cars. That way, they can access better career opportunities as well as improve their financial skills.
