Reliable transportation to work is a critical piece of the employment puzzle. Without personal transportation, a 20-minute commute can take more than an hour. Missing a bus or taking a child to a mid-day doctor's appointment can present major obstacles to getting to work, keeping a job, or getting training to move up to better-paying work. Low-income workers often also find it difficult to access banking services that make it possible (and affordable) to purchase a reliable car.
