2200 Westlake: 15,000 hours & counting

Port Jobs Reports, Summer 2005

Dan Crowell, Soundview Aerial
2200 Westlake’s amenities will include a luxury hotel, condominium homes, a grocery store, banking services, restaurants and shopping. Turner Construction Company is the project’s general contractor.

Through an agreement with Port Jobs and the Seattle-King County Building and Construction Trades Council, the 2200 Westlake project is providing training and job opportunities for many apprentices in downtown Seattle.

Vulcan Inc., the project developer, has adopted project goals whereby 15% of the project’s labor hours will be worked by apprentices.

Apprentices have worked nearly 15,000 hours on the project so far – nearly 10% of all labor hours. Congratulations to Vulcan for its work to support local apprentices.
