Norm Rice, President and CEO of Federal Home Loan Bank, addresses those attending Port Jobs’ 10th Anniversary celebration.

October 14th, 2003 marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of Port Jobs, when hundreds of people gathered at Pier 69 to reminisce, celebrate successes, and be inspired.

The event marked the first time ever that many of Port Jobs’ allies and partners from the past decade were able to meet each other.

The evening’s program began with opening remarks by Pat Davis, Port of Seattle Commissioner. Paige Miller, Port of Seattle Commissioner and Port Jobs’ Board President, gave an overview of Port Jobs’ ten-year history.

Sunni Easton, a program participant in Working Wheels, spoke to the crowd about how Working Wheels is helping her gain the tools and self-confidence she needs to start her own catering business.

The keynote address was given by Norm Rice, President and CEO of Federal Home Loan Bank. Rice spoke of the importance of Port Jobs and organizations like it that seek to provide equality of opportunity to King County’s working families.

The program concluded with closing remarks by Pat Davis.

Port Jobs would like to extend a special thank you to the following businesses for sponsoring its 10th Anniversary Event: Alaska Airlines, Amgen, Federal Home Loan Bank, HMS Host, Paracom Inc., Pine Street Associates LLC, Port of Seattle, Preston-Gates & Ellis, Seattle-King County Building & Construction Trades Council, Uwajimaya, Vulcan NW.

Port Jobs extends additional thanks to the following people and organizations for their hard work: Dick Ford, Co-Chair, Dolores Sibonga, Co-Chair, Norm Rice, Co-Chair, Event Committee; Portside Cafe; and Port of Seattle.
