Airport Jobs e-UPDATE, December 22, 2003

Free tax preparation and electronic filing services are available at the Airport Jobs Office on Saturdays between noon and 6pm from early January to April 15, 2004.

Many of the workers employed in and around Sea-Tac airport will benefit from having their taxes completed and filed for free at the Airport Jobs office.

Employers can help their employees keep money in their pockets (and add to it) by promoting the tax preparation service to their employees.

Airport Jobs will mail or deliver free brochures and posters for employers to post, hand out, and/or include with paychecks or W-2's.

Just contact Ruth Westerbeck (phone: 206-835-7506, or email: westerbeck.r@portseattle.org) at Airport Jobs with the following information:

How free tax prep services work
Free tax preparation services will be provided by trained volunteers at the Airport Jobs Office on Saturdays between noon and 6pm from early January to April 15, 2004. All are welcome, but the focus is on people who need assistance filing their returns and who may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Electronic filing will get refunds to taxpayers quickly, and they’ll avoid paying $50-$100 to have taxes prepared by a service (i.e., H&R Block) or an accountant. Taxpayers may also qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit - which will mean a larger refund.

Volunteers are trained to electronically file simple tax forms like the 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040, but are unable to do more complex returns such as small business taxes, past year returns or schedules other than those for the EITC and CTC.
