Apprenticeship Research

Overview

As part of its broader effort to strengthen the apprenticeship system and extend the opportunity to enter the trades to all communities, Port Jobs engages in studies of the overall apprenticeship system in the Seattle metro area.

The initial studies serving this purpose were the Preliminary Review of Seattle-King County's Apprenticeship & Pre-Apprenticeship System and the Building Opportunities Initiative: Findings and Recommendations. These studies have been followed up by annual reviews of apprentice utilization on major public and private construction projects in the area.

In addition to this core research, Port Jobs also has conducted studies on a variety of specific topics, including:

Port Jobs' most recent report, Building the Foundation: Opportunities and Challenges Facing Women in Construction, reveals the challenges and triumphs of women working in Washington's construction trades. (Executive Summary 298 KB pdf, Full Report 1.4 MB)
